Tight & Bright in Imbil

It had been a while since we’d joined our 4wd club for a weekend away and so when I saw that the 2016 Xmas Party was a weekend we had free I quickly added our names to the list. I didn’t realize just how large an event this was until we arrived and discovered that 160 plus children were expected.

So glad I took Friday off work as we (this included Cherie & family) scored a lovely site overlooking the large swimming hole on Yabba Creek staying at the Island Reach Camping Resort – not sure where the word resort fits in but oh well it was a nice spot and clean amenities.

The weekend was a relaxing time with events organized by the club – 4wd trips (Rob & Tim did one with Indigo while I joined Cherie & Asha to explore the township of Inbil followed by coffee), presentations including the best costumes (the title of this post was the theme) best club members in certain categories such as best trip, best photograph etc, happy hour, sit down dinner self provided then Sunday morning fully catered (by club members) breakfast followed by the arrival of Santa with gifts. The committee did an amazing job and so good to catch up with lots of people and get more inspiration to keep on with our travel plans.

Rather than going back home on the freeway we took the inland route via Kenilworth skirting Melany to take the Postman’s Track (a very steep windy road which come out with an amazing view over the Glasshouse Mountains and then down the back road through to Woodford and then over Mt Mee to Dayboro. It was gorgeous taking these back roads the farms were lush and the views amazing.

Always good to get away but yes a 3 day weekend is never enough.
